In Praise of: Olive Green

At once both modern and rustic, familiar yet complex, there are many reasons why olive green has been a mainstay in design for decades. Gaining in popularity in recent years, olive green is a go-to color palette of mine when designing a room, event, or simply a mood board to create a general aesthetic.

Why? In a nutshell, olive elevates a space while also adapting to its surroundings. Paired with the warmth of brick or honey-toned wood in a cozy New England saltbox style home, olive green reads as cozy, quaint, and inviting. Put up against a warehouse vibe venue, olive green leans into its cooler tones and begins to feel industrial, shedding its earth-toned leanings.

When I am searching for inspiration at the start of the project, from a wedding paper suite to a master bathroom, I tend to start with olive green and see where it leads.
